Mark makes clear in today’s Gospel that Jesus spoke with a different kind of authority, unlike the Scribes of his day. Jesus taught with a certainty that spoke to them of God. To hear someone speak like this was like a breeze from heaven. Jesus’ words, his deeds and his response to those in need astonished and amazed them.
