Countering Satancon 2023

Dear Church,

As many of you know The Satanic Temple of Salem, MA is hosting their biggest convention yet, Satancon 2023, at the Boston Marriott Copley Place the weekend of April 28-30. The event is sold out and is being promoted as “a weekend of blasphemy and remembrance in Boston.” It also celebrates the Satanic Temple’s 10th anniversary.

Earlier this week, Bishop Mark and representatives from surrounding shrines, parishes, religious orders, and RCAB staff met virtually and in person to discuss our response. A number of faith communities shared how they will be praying during that weekend. Early next week we should have a list of worship sites complete with their prayer and adorations schedules and we will publish it on our website. At Saint Patrick’s we are asking each parishioner to pledge to say the Rosary each day on April 28, 29 & 30th to counter the blasphemy against our Lord’s Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary. We will expose the Most Blessed Sacrament in the window of Our Lady of Providence Hall facing Boston beginning Friday, April 28th at 3:00 where it will remain until Sunday, April 30th. On Saturday, April 29th at 2:45 pm in the lower church (prior to confessions) we will have an Act of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary dedicating the Parish and Diocese to the Blessed Mother before the Blessed Sacrament. On Sunday, April 30th we will process with the Most Blessed Sacrament from Our Lady of Providence Hall to the upper church at 3:00 for the Adoration/Benediction and recitation of the Rosary. Also, we will be publishing a Deliverance prayer in the bulletin for private use.
