Paul and Barnabas tell the other disciples, “It is necessary for us to undergo many hardships to enter the kingdom of God.” Even today, the Church experiences hardships. In today’s Gospel Jesus gives a simple command but one that can be hard to lie by: “…I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another.” Notice the catch in Jesus’ words. He doesn’t say love one another rather he says love as He loves. Imagine life in your family, in your parish and in our world if you took this command to heart. Yet that is the mark of a disciple!
