Cardinal Announces 2022 Catholic Appeal Launch
To strengthen our faith and our communities while serving our brothers and sisters in need
The work of the Church is part of the fabric of our communities. Through the goodness of thousands of generous people, the Church is able to address food insecurity through its food pantries, provides outstanding education to children, and serves as a spiritual companion to those affected by addiction. “Parishes and parishioners,” said Cardinal Seán P. O’Malley, OFM Cap, are putting their “faith into action.”
In announcing the launch of the 2022 Catholic Appeal, Cardinal Seán added, through countess examples of good deeds, the Catholic faithful are bringing “the light of Christ to those throughout our communities through their generous support for the annual Catholic Appeal.”
The 2022 Catholic Appeal will be announced in parishes of the Archdiocese of Boston the weekend of March 5/6, 2022. Commitment weekend takes place the following weekend of March 12/13, 2022. The Catholic Appeal provides ongoing and wide-ranging operational support and assistance to our parishes as they do what they do best: build vibrant parish communities and carry out Christ’s mission to help those most in need.
Cardinal Seán said, “The mission of the Church is to build a community of faith around the Word of God and the Eucharist.” He added, “In a community of faith, we learn to worship our God, to forgive one another and to serve those around us. We must take care of each other.”
