Palliative Care and Advance Care Planning

  • Description: The SANCTITY OF LIFE MINISTRY of the Reading Catholic Community will host a Palliative Care presentation this month by Diane McCarthy, Parish Education Coordinator for the Archdiocesan Initiative for Palliative Care and Advance Care Planning.

    Palliative care is often misunderstood. It is sometimes thought to be exclusively for people who are receiving hospice care at the end of their lives, but palliative care is actually a comprehensive approach to care for those with serious illness from the moment of their diagnosis. It is a way for people to live better with serious illness that is entirely consistent with Catholic teaching, continuing the holistic healing ministry of Jesus Christ.

Located on Route 30 in Weston, the Seminary prepares second career candidates, men over the age of 30, for priesthood. The proceeds from the Lawn Party help to keep tuition costs affordable.
