Good news for some, bad news for others……
Saint Patrick Parish as well as the other parishes in the Archdiocese of Boston were mandated to participate in “Disciples in Mission”, a pastoral plan promulgated by Cardinal Seán O’Malley in 2012, based upon the recommendations of the Pastor Planning Commission. The pastoral plan sought to revitalize the Church in Boston by positioning our parishes more solidly for the task of evangelization. The goal was that every parish of the Archdiocese of Boston be a strong, stable, intentional and effective center of evangelization. Eleven phases were established and we were in phase eight, which was to begin implementation this September. In that case, I would need to submit my letter of resignation and the Parish would become open for a new pastor.
This past week, I was contacted by the Chancery and was informed we were being withdrawn from phase eight and moved to a later phase. All that being said, what it means for us is this: you are stuck with me and Father Frank for at least another year or two as your Pastor and Associate Pastor. For some it is good news and for some….help yourself to some Mylanta.
We look forward to continuing to serve our great Parish! Our Lady of Mount Carmel…pray for us!!!
